ACNA Provincial Council Approves MDAS For Diocesan Status

June 19, 2013

Dear Brothers,

The Governance Task Force of the Anglican Church in North America issued the following statement to the Provincial Council meeting at Nashotah House Theological Seminary on June 18, 2013.

We have reviewed their (MDAS) application and find it in good order. We note that the Missionary Diocese of All Saints (MDAS) is the diocese of Forward in Faith North America (FiFNA). +William Ilgenfritz bishop, and one of the founding entities of the ACNA (Article II Section 1). Since their formation, the MDAS has grown from 0 to 33 congregations. We also note that during the period since MDAS submitted this application, their total ASA has grown from 783 to 908, their congregations of 50+ ASA from 5 to 6, and that they are working with Anglican 1000 to plant new churches. We also note that the MDAS is an affinity based diocese that has given away two congregations to existing geographic ACNA dioceses (Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes and Cascadia) when it was appropriate. One of those congregations had an ASA of 45 when it was given away.

The MDAS tithes (10%) on a very small budget to the ACNA. They have articulated a clear and compelling strategy for their unique mission to help grow the ACNA into one, united Biblical and missionary Church by focusing on gathering in Anglo-Catholic congregations who might not otherwise join the ACNA.

The recommendation was approved by a unanimous vote of the Council.

I know we are all greatly encouraged by this news. Let us now by God’s grace continue our efforts to reach North America with the transforming love of Jesus Christ. Thank you for all you have done, all you are doing and all you will do.

To God be the glory,

The Rt. Rev. William H. Ilgenfritz
