The annual Diocesan Synod will be combined with a Retreat this year April 23-25 at eh Dunes Manor in Ocean City, Maryland. The Retreat is open to all laity and clergy of the diocese and will be led by Bp. Kenneth Myers.
Bishop Ken, the son of an Assemblies of God pastor, began in the ministry at an early age, and embrace the Anglican tradition in 1993. He served as priest and bishop in his home state of Texas until 2014, when he stepped out into a new teaching ministry, Graceworks. Bp. Ken has published several books which, like his teachings, make plain the deep things of God in ways that ordinary people can see them more clearly.
The theme of the Retreat is Trinity, Salvation and the Sacraments: Living Eucharistic Lives in a Sterile World.
“We live in a world that is starving spiritually, yet deaf and blind to the only Source that can meet its deepest needs. As the body of Christ, we are called to live Eucharistic lives in this hostile environment. As our transformed lives demonstrate that being in Christ does make a difference, His presence in us actually transforms that broken world.”
In the MDAS, we do not “do” church conventions with endless resolutions and boring business sessions. We know that as a non-geographic, Missionary Diocese, God has more important things for the time we spend together. Please set aside these three days in Eastertide to join with others from our diocese in worship, learning, prayer and fellowship, so that we can return, nourished and recharged, to the mission field to which He has called each of us.
